Description:  The parent material is alluvium from fan terrace.  Brown gravelly sandy loam, (fine-loamy, mixed, mesic Xerollic). Original ASTER Spectral Library name was jhu.becknic.soil.aridisol.haplargid.coarse.89P1793.spectrum.txt
Moderate medium and coarse platy structure, slightly hard, friable, slightly 
sticky but non plastic; slightly effervescent and mildly alkaline (pH 7.2).  
0.10% organic carbon, 3.2% clay, 15.5% silt, 81.3% sand.

Clay mineralogy: (BTQ1 horizon, at 50 cm), medium mica peak, and small 
peaks of kaolinite and montmorillonite.

Coarse mineralogy: (same horizon as for clay analysis), 52% quartz, 17% 
potassic feldspar, 16% other, 7% opaque, 3% biotite, 3% hornblende, 1% 
goethite, 1% zircon, 1% plagioclase feldspar, and traces of plant opal, glass, 
garnet.
